Front brake slider boots

My tales of woe continue...

Some of you might recall my posts about brakes last week:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/161705-sorry-brakes-again-solved/ (see towards the end of the thread).

To summarise - my car was in a garage last week for new discs & pads all round. While doing this they advised me that both rear calipers were seized and that the NSR brake line split when they were trying to free the rear calipers using the pedal. I took in new rear calipers the next day and they replaced the brake line and fitted the new calipers. Then they tried bleeding the brakes but couldn't get a good pedal (the pedal is long). Garage wanted to charge me for fitting a new master cylinder but weren't confident and couldn't guarantee that it would fix the long pedal. I think it's unlikely the MC is faulty (unless by their doing) so I've had the car recovered home until I can get it taken elsewhere for a second opinion & to be fixed.

Last night I jacked the front up and took the wheel off and noticed there doesn't seem to be any boot/seal covering the slider. I'm fairly sure there is supposed to be a boot/seal over the slider - can anyone clarify? Photo attached.

I've only checked the OSF so far, I'll check the NSF at the weekend.
