Rear brake mooing

Featured Replies

Hi guys just got this happening when on first start up or cold and moving slowly backwards and sometimes forwards i am getting a brake mooing heard the brakes rub slighty any possible fix for this

Cheers

Search is your friend, well covered since the Octavia was launched.

Pretty much standard on all the Golf mkiv derived cars in my experience.

Thankfully mine doesn't appear to do this unless I move the car backwards and very slightly apply the brakes. I know my front pads are Bosch ones, can't remember what the rears are but would guess Bosch too.

Sorry this post isn't especially helpful, but it shows at least it is possible?

Iirc (assuming rear discs, cant see car detail on mobile view)

VW sharan return springs usually sorts this ?

You are never going to stop this 100%, but with the above mentioned springs, good pad and caliper maintenance, you should reduce it by 95%.

You will still get it on very damp days, and if you leave the vehicle standing for 3 days or more.

Hope it helps.
