wing mirror and sun visor clip issue

Featured Replies

Two issues happened on the same day:

Wing mirror: the mirror panel started to come away from the back panel which attaches to the motor. Is it okay to use epoxy resin (or similar) to stick it back on given that it's a heated mirror?

Sun visor clip: the plastic hook part which clicks onto the part which is screwed in broke. Is it possible to get a replacement, or do I scrounge at a breakers'?

Many thanks!

The door mirror glass become detached from the heated backing pad is a common issue. You've done well to catch it before it falls off and smashes.

I used double sided carpet tape and the heated element still worked.

Is this the sun visor part you need?

My mirror glass fell off while I was driving at motorway speeds and it actually hooked itself in under the black plastic backing plate and I just managed to get stopped before it fell out, I was quite lucky.

I used gorilla glue which is just like araldite and its held on great since.

I also used double sided carpet tape on both my door mirrors one after the other and they are holding fine.

Silver, Richie, Gav: thanks very much for your suggestions.

I didn't realise the wing mirror thing was a common issue. I was on a motorway when I noticed the wing mirror shaking...it confused me for a few miles as I wasn't on rough terrain and the other wing mirror was fine. Lucky I had some duct tape to use as a temporary fix.

Thanks for the link for the sun visor part. I just need to find it in black (at least I think it's black....or does it count as grey?)

I used araldite on my O2 mirror when it happened to me. Set great and heating still worked.
