Temperature Gauge

Featured Replies

New to skoda and new to petrol turbo cars, through town driving, the temp gauge eventually reaches 90 degrees but I noticed last night it dropped to about 70 when on a run at about 60mph, is this normal? As soon as i went back to town driving, the temp settled back at 90 again. Heaters and everything work which leads me to believe its not the stat?

Doesn't sound right. Not how my vRS TSI responds. Once at 90C it stays there. Suspect Thermostat stuck open.

Could be the thermostat.  Might be broken or just gummed up.

Might also be the temperature sender, or the sensor voltage stabiliser, or the gauge itself playing up.

I wouldn't worry too much unless it's seriously lowering your MPG.

Cheap remedy - stick a bit of cardboard over the rad!

Sounds like the thermostat is broken, I had the same issue with mine. Had a new one fitted and now once up to 90 ( less than 5 minutes driving) , it stays there regardless of driving conditions.

The part itself is cheap to buy, but it's a fiddly job to change so it's 2-3 hrs labour
