Scout Mk2 Turbocharger Removal (2007)

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

My turbocharger needs to be removed to be fixed or replaced. The Haynes Manual explains the drive shaft and subframe should be removed. Is this really necessary?

Neil.

Tricky bit is being 4WD the angle box gets in the way.

I take them out the top over the gearbox, no need to remove subframe. Although removing the driveshaft does give you more room to get the oil drain/support off.

Thank you CupraLoon for your reply.

I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Don't believe it, I have the wrong Haynes Manual. Does not cover the Scout.

Where can I find a Manual guys?

Can someone tell me what type of socket I'd need to remove the two screws inside the boot (the two on the floor with rubber grommets above them) for the drive shaft?

TA!

Neil

Got a pic? Not sure which ones you are talking about.

I'm struggling to work out where that is. What are you trying to do?

I think the bolt/screw is a 12 point spline type after some research. The screw(s) is in the boot one the floor inbetween the spare wheel and rear seat.

So you are removing the rear diff?

Well at least the drive shaft, need to remove the DPF to access the turbo, a very tight squeeze.

Just for reference a m14 Spline Bit Socket is needed.

Still struggling to figure out why you are removing anything in the boot to remove a driveshaft.

Sounds like prop shaft and drive shaft are getting mixed up here.

Yeah, sorry meant propshaft. Silly me. :p

I take it I just need to remove the front part only?
