OK, there is always one I know. I am buying an Octavia 1.6diesel mk3 Estate, I have never driven one but have bought it and collect it from the UK in 2 weeks ( we are in France)

 

Can anyone tell me the service frequency for this vehicle, it is just 3 yrs and has 38k on the clock?

Depends if its on the fixed or variable service interval

how does this differ then? is it the same engine?

Fixed is 1 year or 10,000 miles, the variable service calculates when it needs an oil change dependant on mileage, time and lots of other variables. So if its done lots of motorway driving you could see the oil change interval well over 1 year and nearly 20K.

 

same car, just depends on how it has been set-up from new. The car can easily be put onto fixed servicing by resetting the service indicator, to get it on variable has to be done by the dealer or possible via VCDS
