vRS Test Drive and I'm..................

Featured Replies

.....A bit disappointed. The car was black 18" wheels and had the sports set up. The seats were very supportive and the car held the road well. The engine and the 6 speed gear box worked well together But....................The Image of the vRS has , I think, disappered. This is now a 5 seat family saloon, with a bit of grunt if you need it, with the grunt been at the top of the rev range. I gave it some stick and yes it goes but it feels like you have to push it to make it work. I drove the car for about 25/30 minutes and when returned I didn't have a smile on my face It's got no WOW factor about it. I use to own a Mk1 Octavia vRS and that did put a smile on my face, foot down and it really did go. This is a completly different car I suppose, and therefore do I need to look at it in a different light, will I be buying one.....I Don't think so. I have owned a Furbie vRS now for nearly 2 years and I still smile every time I drive it...........The Mk1 vRS, now thats a different story...Know doubt I'll get slated by this review but everyone is entiteled to his opinions..........................Andy

Strange that, with the extra 20 odd BHP and better gearbox and handling. I agree, my Mk 1 vRS was also great fun, a kick in the back, - till the gear crunched etc.

Equally, I am surprised [very pleasantly] how my 30 bph LESS 2.0FSI feels. Have you tried one? Still only done just over 4200 miles and I reckon there is more push to come - trouble is, at this rate, it'll take me a while to find out. I'm sure you need at least 8 to 10,000 on the clock to loosen it up properly, maybe more.
