Test drove Octavia vRS, brought Fabia vRS !

Featured Replies

Hiya guys (+ gals), finally done it and ordered a Fabia vRS in Silver. Also added Cruise, ESP, and heated seats to the spec. Factory order, so should be around week 10. This will feel quite different to my 8v 1.4 Fabia !

Also had a test drive of an Octavia vRS, and its a lovely car. Interior is really nicely designed and VERY comfy. Needless to say the engine performs fantastically (although perhaps a little bland and characterless). The thing that impressed me most about the Octavia vRS is the ride and handling, in that its sporty and firm, but very compliant and smooth over bumps too. If I wanted a bigger car, I would definately consider it, but its not really in the same market as the Fabia vRS but It would be a very difficult decision between a golf gti and the Octavia.

Cheers.

P.S. Anyone want to buy a Fabia....:)

Nice one  Looking forward to 10 weeks of torture then? :D

You made the right decision, unless of course you wanted a car to use as a taxi, in which case you should have opted for the Octy:D

I waited 3 months for mine !! But I did want 1st Sept !! A good choice

Dave, yes 10 weeks will seem like a long time, can't wait although I do need to get the stereo removed from the existing car (clarion head unit with faceplate adaptor and aerial booster).

Anyone know what the stereo in the vRS is like now ? I have a Clarion which wasnt really expensive (about £150), but I really like it, so will be tempted to put that in the vRS.

carefree 'taxi'...haha... I wasnt seriously looking at the Octavia, just seemed rude not to try it . If I wanted to spend another £10Kish, and wasnt bothered about economy I might be in that market.

Put it in the VRS dude standard stereo ok clarion will be better and sound better through factory speakers

I'm quite impressed by Std. Headunit! Sounds good! Think the speakers are quite good too aswell!!!!

I agree. :) Leave it alone. Its good enough in standard form + its less likely to attract theives.;)

You should have got xenons instead of ESP. ;)

Hmm dunno about that - I've got both though ;) - ESP works very well and is less intrusive than the ASR system (by quite a bit). I was amazed about how well it worked during extremely slippery conditions during December (visiting family in NL). Xenons are great when they are set up right, which for some reason they don't tend to be when you first pick up the car...

I'd agree with that. ESP is excellent in bad conditions but then so too are Xenons

If I wanted to spend another

Good choice of car friend! I agree with the others, the standard stereo is pretty good, and less likely to attract muppets.

Thats like saying I test drove an M5 but bought a 316i.

Kiddin.Enjoy the car.They're grrrreat
