Featured Replies

I either work from home or mobile. Why'd you ask?

How does it work from home, trade effluent waste etc...is there a lot of red tape to get through with the water authorities and the council?

I'm waiting on a response from my local authority......fingers crossed it won't be an issue!

Just one word on CSI Detailing.

Sounded great when I first read it, kind of trips off the tongue nicely.

Then I thought, are these guys who you take a car to after a nasty bloodbath has occurred......

It can mean that as you say but more so of the vehicle user coming in with the bloodbath car ready to be fully detailed, CSi detailer is to mean "go over everything with a fine tooth-comb"  B)

Question is do you really want to be looking for DNA on the back seat?

its just a perception, the name CSI detailer is to show how methodical you actually are by cleaning vehicles, now if someone wants to come in with full DNA blood or love-stains on there chairs, then I would be charging a proper price for the job regardless.

At the same time, I can see your point, but regardless there is DNA in every car so makes no difference & if a vehicle did come in full of blood, I'm sure you would be calling the real "CSI" to come & take a look or would you take the job on for a over-priced fee?  :D

Its an opinion ;)

A trading name is SO important. Any connotations that are not positive and are easily linked or perceived to the name should really be avoided.

Its great that the name sounds like you are 'going through with a fine tooth comb', but not great that it's easily sounds like a company that cleans up after a messy crime scene.

;) I understand completely what your saying & everyone's insight/input will be different but lets be honest, most of people's vehicles that don't fully care for their car are really messy & its like it needs a real good car scene investigation  :D to make it clean again. lol

Or how about Mirror Finish?

Fully Restored Detailer?

I would tend to agree, the name is fab but if you ask joe blogs what it means to them then the only connotation is crime scene. I feel it's hard trying to educate joe public about the term detailing! I'm not ruling it out but I would've preferred Forensic Detailing as that has different connotations yet gives the impression of meticulous detail. Liking the feedback n debate though, thanks!

Mirror Finish is taken so Wax my Ride or similar is looking good. What about Detail my ride?????

I know various companies use 'Obsessive' in their titles, so they are taken, but there is a reason it's popular. It does what it says on the tin.

So how about using a contraction of the word. Quite a trendy use of words is to knock a vowel out or off the word, this allows you to create a short website domain name as the word us in effect made up. Also allows good branding. So-

OBSESSIV

Car Detailing

Looks good to me, but what about the masses?

I know where you're coming from as I'd thought of this one....the reason if put me off was again a possible negative perception....OCD for short. Yet, like you say there are many companies using it in their name.

The use of Obssessiv Car Detsiling is probably too similar to a registered company in existence by the fact of dropping the 'e' and it's a detailing company....thus a successful registration of your suggestion is likely to be challenged and successfully so unfortunately.

Liking the idea of a change of letters though, that's why I originally looked at Kustom Detailing and i4 Detailing.

With the many, many different car Detailing company's that have Obsessive in their name, that actually using a word that is actually spelt different would be a legal infringement.

However, this is your company & I respect that :)

Last one from me, (Currently on holiday in Lanzarote & the wife keeps asking me what I'm doing :D ).

So in the same format as before, i.e. It does what it says on the tin -

PROTECT & SHOW

Car Detailing Services

Can't see anything too similar, & this to me is what a good detail does. First and primarily - PROTECT, then SHOW it off.

Before you dismiss or jump from the rooftops as its the best thing you've heard.

Sit on it for day, say it a few times, it sounds good :)

Consultant Detailing?

I like Doctor Detail but would this count as a reference to a local authority thus going against the rules outlined by Companies House?

You've lost me, I'm having a blonde moment!!!! KISS?

what services are you offering? Just detailing in the form of paint correction and protection, interior refurbishments? or will your services also include a straightforward valet?

The majority of first time customers won't even be familiar with the "detailing" term, if they want a valet, you need to demonstrate in your marketing that is on offer.

Detail My Ride is taken and existing

In terms of water, for commercial premises you need a permit to discharge the waste effluent. This is for a single premises but not sure what happens when you are a mobile valeter/detailer? For personal usage you can discharge.

Thanks for the input. Initial looking at detailing n yes, I agree, there is a great deal of ignorance surrounding the comprehension of what's involved. However, I'm not going to cut my nose off to spite my face and valenting offers another strand to the business so I agree with your point re marketing.

Saw that one was taken but like the ring to that type of name.

Yeah, having done a little research on waste effluent I'm aware of the need for licensing re commercial premises but there's no definitive answer re mobile detailing.....that's where I'm hoping the local authority will clarify their position.

Hello mate, is that what I knew as one of the youngest detailers on DW when I use to darken their doors.....Gaz?
