2014 TDI VRS with issues - Advice please

Featured Replies

Hi all, we purchased a 64 plate Octavian vrs tdi November last year, 1 previous owner and 13k on the clock.

All started well for the first day then the issues started

1: touch screen started changing stations and removing preset stations by itself. Contacted the dealer and they did a hard reset then all ok

2: two weeks later it did it again, car back in and they fitted a donor screen to test - all ok so eventually they agreed to fit a new one. Stereo sorted

3: a month later and now when ever I put the heated window on it would cut the DAB signal, turn it off and it would come back. Took straight to the dealer and filmed fault. Booked in and needed a whole new rear screen, 1 month on back order

4: whilst waiting for the screen I found both fog lights were full of condensation, took pictures and emailed dealer - was told it was warranty and they would fit when the window was in

Now I know that all was covered under warranty but would anyone agree that this is unacceptable for a car that young? Thought all was sorted and thought nothing else could go wrong, well how wrong I was!

My pregnant wife travelling on a major busy A road when all of a sudden the temperature shoots to 130 and message comes up saying that pull over immediately car over heating. So stranded by the road rescue comes out and unable to fault and believes it's a sensor. Car goes in once again and technicians immediately suspect the water pump. This has since been changed also.

Would anyone think that I am wrong in trying to get them to change the car? In 9 months we have had

1: new touch screen

2: new rear screen

3: two new fog lights

4: new water pump

Sorry for the long message and hope you can help and advise

If all the work has been successfully carried out and under warranty then I don't think you can reject it.

Ref the Radio problems, My Tdi Vrs ( June 63 plate )  was doing the same. According to my dealer there is a software update to cure the problem

Mine only did it if it was cold ( outside ) or damp wet weather.

As above - rejection unlikely as dealer/Skoda has to be given an opportunity to rectify. Perhaps ask Skoda CS for gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience suffered (note: you need to be put through to the executive department to get a decision!) - free service or an additional year of manufacturers warranty to restore confidence in vehicle / brand is probably best you will get?

I don't really how how you have grounds for rejection - it seems that in light of the faults the dealership has been pretty good in rectifying the problems.

If you were experiencing an ongoing saga where many failed attempts to fix things were made and you had been without the car for ages etc then maybe

Thanks for the replies. We do love the car and don't want to get rid of it. The fear we have is if or what will go wrong next. Currently awaiting a call back from soda customer services and will try and push towards some goodwill.

Auric Goldfinger - they tried the software update first and that worked for about a day. They told me it is a known fault they have seen on a few cars that require the whole screen to be changed

If you are worried about the car, why not ask for a warranty extension as the goodwill?
