flat spot c. 2.2k rpm, tdi 110

Featured Replies

Hi all!

A quick question, my Octavia has for about the last 1000 miles had a really annoying flatspot at about 2200-2300 rpm. It's a 99W TDI 110 with about 84000 miles on the clock. If you accelerate in 2nd anywhere from 1000 rpm you can hear the turbo spool up and then at about 2k rpm it stutters a little, the turbo whistle audibly dropping in pitch, before picking up again at about 2.5k rpm. This doesn't seem normal - any clues where to start? Sounds like something to do with the wastegate sticking?

Prior to this car I had a Saab 9000 turbo, the wastegate rod was really obvious when viewed from underneath the car - I've had a quick peek on mine but can't see anything obvious. Any ideas?

Cheers! Jules

air flow meter????

I had that problem too. It was diagnosed as a faulty/ sticking changeover/ turnover valve. I think the valve was sticking open too long not allowing the pressure to build up.

It was fixed about 10 months ago and i haven't really noticed the problem since (although i do jump at every hesitation)

I have described the problem (symtoms) in other threads, just do a search on my name.
