xbox windows 10 confusion

Featured Replies

Hello all, a few of you may know that xbox are releasing the new Forza 3 soon for xbox and windows 10 cross platform play. One question i have is do you need the xbox to be able to play it on pc, or can you just straight up download the pc version and play it without the xbox because as far as i'm aware it doesn't really specify and i don't want to waste £80 on a game i cant play without linking it to an xbox. I have an xbox account already with downloaded games from the past but i sold the xbox to play on pc.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.

You don't need an Xbox to play horizon 3 if you have a Windows 10 PC. The playable anywhere thing is when you buy it on Xbox it also gives you the pc version or vice versa. You just log in with the account id used to purchase and download to your machine of choice. I think all Microsoft first party games are doing the same like gears of war 4

great, thanks

Only downside is it has to be the Digital version, bought from the Xbox/Microsoft store (so £49.99)

Also the PC version needs a redicioulsly powerful PC to run smoothly - it has issues with CPU usage

Yeah I saw the PC was having some issues, I think there is a patch coming for PC soon that hopefully sorts out some of the issues. I think forza 6 apex also needed a pretty decent spec PC too, it will be interesting to see how Gears of war 4 runs on PC

Yeah guys don't worry I know all about the issues lol

Problem I have is that I have an Alienware alpha with a core i7 and the graphics card is only a nvidia gtx 860 or the equivalent of

I've got the card overclocked but I have to keep it locked at 30fps at minimum graphics

I get the occasional stutter which i think is vram related especially as I get the low video memory warning

It's still very playable though

Pretty rediciulous seeing as though it plays GTA v at ~80fps

There seems to be a problem with the way the game handles framerates, running it above 30 fps even just 1080@60 seems to need a ridiculous amount of hardware - systems that struggle running 1080@60 can run the game fine at 4k@30fps with everything cranked to high.

There's also an issue with a new DRM system the game uses where it has to decrypt the game files on the fly when running which people believe is causing stuttering issues:

The game was built to run at 30fps, it's just that PC can run it at higher fps and resolution. I think the they will sort the issues and patch the game forza 6 apex needed a hefty PC too

I like the game, i played horizon 2 for ages I loved that too but because it has these stuttering problems I can't deal with playing it more than 30 minutes lol

Most people wouldn't be bothered by it I guess it's just what pc gamers see

Yeah deffo the patch released yesterday along with the first car pack so hopefully it sorts some of the issues

It's not built to run at 30fps, just clearly heavily optimised for it which is fine if they're only running it on console but this was always meant to run on PC so it's a bit ridiculous for a final release.

Oh I wondered why it said cars added to garage lol

From what I played on the Xbox one version the patch seems to have introduced some stuttering that wasn't there before.....

Well the update downloaded and as far as I can tell hasn't made any affect

Read on the forza forums and in fact for a lot of people it's become worse, apparently it's due to poor cpu distribution

Not too good then. They will be working on another patch no doubt

Oh, anyone whos playing it - add me - Neo VRS

:-)

since the latest update I've been reading that if you enter a race, before you start exit the game tab and open google chrome then immediately close it then open your game back up, apparently it sparks the GPU into life as chrome takes advantage of it so im going to try that.

Also in the update they have patched my level up method which was the drift tap method in an m3 horizon edition, i was getting 800k xp every 15 minutes lmao

I used the drift tap method for a bit too lol. Im over level 200 now heh
