Knocking noise from front of vehicle over rough road/bumps

Featured Replies

I've just got my fabia vrs , after I've brought it I've noticed a knocking noise coming from the front which appears on both sides of the car , I've checked the console bushes as there the cupra bushes there okay checked with lever bar, slight play in both bottom ball joints , tiniest bit of play in N/S/F steering arm , but this knock sounds like something's loose , checked both drop links as there puma droplinks which are okay , thinking of the front anti roll bar bushes which could possibly be the noise? Dog mount is okay from the subframe to engine, anyone experienced this to? Thanks :)

Yeah could definitely be the arb bushes.

Collars ok on the arb? Not hitting the console?

I'm going to have a check of them on Saturday hopefully I can find the problem , what size are the rubber bushes that fit onto the anti roll bar? Heard 18/19mm?

Bonnet knocking due to the stops needing adjustment? Try lifting/rattling the front corners by hand with the bonnet shut.

I had the same problem , mine turned out to be the collars breaking as mentioned above. This caused the ARB to slide and knock. I have the invoice from tps and can provide part numbers if you require.

I've ordered up some new bushes , as so I'll be doing it this Saturday hopefully will sort this knocking noise.

I hope that you checked which version of ARB your car has - that is if it is old enough to have had the one with the plastic stops fitted to it at the factory, the mounting bush size is dependant on which version you have fitted to that car now.

ARB Droplinks - mine were knackered and rattled all the time over bumps

He said he's checked the drop links though.

I checked mine, they appeared absolutely fine but knocked like hell over bumps

Fair point :)
