Vacuum Hose sizes / Limp mode help - 1.9TDi (90)

Featured Replies

Having an issue with car going into limp mode, did Mr Muscle which made a massive difference as the actuator rod was a little stiff/gritty. All the vacuum lines at 15 year old factory ones and looking frayed. Getting same overboost code again now when car under load and when letting off accelerator getting a raspy waste-gate sound etc. I intend to replace every pip I can for black silicone ones.

Does anyone know what diameter vacuum hoses I need? Been searching on here for 2 hours and not found the answer yet :(

Also some seepage around vacuum pump itself so will need to get part number to find out gasket / gasket & seals kit for that git too, could that be causing my issues alone?

Any ideas on what else I could check?

Replaced all of mine on my Audi A4 PD130 with 4mm & 5mm inner diameter braided fuel pipe. I would expect the Octy to be the same.

Cheers, I have 3mm and 5mm but no 4mm bahhhh. Did you have any issues with clamps or any tricky bits I should watch out for (turbo actuator clamp come off easy etc?) ?

any old pipe on plastic stubs/fittings   either pinch radially(with pliers)  to stretch the pipe circumferentially? (is that a word)   before pulling off or cut in a spiral with something sharp --old plastic stubs don't glue well

Replaced all lines (bar 2) there now in the stinking rain (wet back). I seemed to have 3 different diameters of the same braided hose going on and swapped all bar the N75 - turbo actuator one. Just about every hose on the car crumbled as I tried to remove like they were made of Digestives.... With as far as I got done and wanting some 4mm for the BIG one to the turbo I stopped and checked over my tampering then started up. No EML, no codes, took for a run and checked for codes again when back all good. Car drove totally differently and the throttle response was fantastic, seemed to hold it's boost a little better if that makes sense. Got it up to temp and progressively tried my best to get it into limp mode which hasn't been hard recently, but couldn't get it to happen. Having been off work using up some holidays and now in the middle of my 2nd week off, I've only been driving the vRS and the Octy a couple of times to pop up the road and nip to the dump to get rid of a carpet and some waste oils. So I am used to the nice fresh zippy Fabia, so the fact that the Octy felt a lot better than it had been, must mean something has been sorted by this.

That's what some of the old hoses were turning into.
