Insurance on Vrs

Featured Replies

Afternoon

I'm due to renew my insurance soon. I swapped over my old car to my Vrs and I've had my quote come through. I've gone on line to shop about as you do and the quotes for a 32 year old with 10+ ncb is still in excess of £550. Does anyone know why the Vrs is so much more than a Leon Fr ?

Don't know why the differential. Is there much of a difference on insurance group?

Have you tried to call the sponsors on this site for a quote. I use Chris Knott and they came up with a competitive quote, a bit cheaper than what you've got but I'm older and live in a different area.... Haven't got my renewal for this year though - coming in October.

I'm a lot older than you (70 last Sunday) but pay just under £210 for my Octavia vRS CR DSG.  Recently had a quote for a Leon ST FR 1.8TSi DSG and that was just over £20 more expensive.

It will be the insurance group

Leon tdi ft is group 20 vs vrs 2.0 cr is group 28

550 does sound a little high, my new lowest quote will be 650 quid, 2.0 tfsi estate, 24, 7ncd

£260 from admiral for my vrs230 10 yrs ncb and im 49 they may be worth a try

Aviva were much cheaper than the usual comparison websites for me.

Hi,

Thanks for giving us a try.

No one else gets close to the quote from Adrian flux.

Christ Knott here. Best quote by a bit, but I still consider £400 a lot for a 29 year old with 7 or so years no claims. I was paying £330 but moved to a different post code.

Sucks doesn't it

Hate to think what I would be paying living in a quiet countryside villiage compared to manchester where I live at the moment lol

Got the VRS down to about £180 at one point. Insurance has been steadily increasing for me and it doesn't even seem to matter what car I'm in. I guess I've bottomed out and I'm seeing the tax and inflation more every year, plus insurance is going up in general.

I'm rural though so I'm a lot cheaper than many of you.

Renewed both cars a month ago.....£156 for the vRS and £120 for the Yaris. Still with Saga and cheaper than the previous year!

I'm 67 and the wife a little more (daren't say what), and we both have a totally unblemished driving record of 50 years.

I'd be very surprised if anyone has a cheaper quote for the vRS.

Those are two different FR's so it's not really a like for like comparison.  Philbes's quote is pretty similar group wise (25 v 26) but it should have had the VRS as the cheaper car!  :S

Maybe my typo caused a bit of confusion but a Leon 2.0 tdi FR is definitely group 20 in this year bracket compared to octavia II

I must have looked at newer cars to get my comparison but inputting 2013 cars still gives a varying difference depending upon which FR you mean. The group 20 one that you mentioned is 30bhp lower in power compared to a vRS though so, as I said, not really a like for like comparison.
