Hi guys I'm looking at a scoda scout 08 model diesel what are the relistic mpg on these cars iv been reading the official figures and they say like 40s but iv read some get 35 what do you guys get thanks.

Best mpg I've recorded via Fuelly is 51.8mpg on a 450 mile journey.

Worst was about 36mpg on short daily journey of about 3 miles each way. It should be noted that my EGR Cooler was faulty at that time so may have impacted on mpg.

On regular short journeys I'm getting 38-42mpg, and on regular long journeys 46-49mpg.

I could cope with 46 to 49

Usually early to mid-forties but higher (up to fifty) on a long steady run for our 4x4 2.0 TDi PD

On my 08 scout my best over a full tank was 61.5, my worst 36.1 (but that was when I first got the car and drove it like I stole it). Long term average over 119k miles is 48.6 with my general annual averages running around 50/51 these days.

My old 4x4 averaged about 44mpg but gave about 50 on a long run.

I have the PD TDi engine fitted to mine. I really like the low down grunt it gives, but it was never designed from the outset to have a Diesel Particulate Filter fitted.

The other diesel engine available from approximately July/August 2010 (typically my Scout was one of the last built to have the PD engine in June 2010) is the CR diesel engine. It is by all accounts far more DPF tolerant, with better mpg and lower CO2 emissions. The CR power delivery is more linear like a petrol engine, rather than the low down shove you get with the PD.

Octy Scouts from September 2010 have a 5 year cambelt change. Those before that period is every 4.

The pre Face Lift Octy Scout has Haldex II fitted, basically it reacts to loss of traction.

The Face Lift Octy Scout has Haldex IV fitted, it reacts before loss of traction.

Haldex oil change is every 39,000 miles or 3 years. I believe Haldex II has a filter fitted, Haldex IV does not. A lot of people forget to get this done. Even my dealership had to contact SUK to confirm servicing frequency on this. Good luck. It's the best car I have ever owned.

MPG can only be calculated manually if you want accurate data. Simply quoting the on-board computer average is not a true reflection of real life fuel economy. The car is designed to flatter.

 

I manually calculated each and every tank on our Scout over 60,000 miles and our average was 39mpg.

 

Again the type of driving needs considering too. Our 2008 PD Scout was used for the school run and a weekend family car so not very many longer journey's.

 

Not a peep out of the DPF though. The 8V SOHC engine in the Scout actually works very well with it's DPF. The only PD engine with DPF issues is the PD170 found in the vRS.

I had the dpf light come on only once in over 70K miles in 4 years.

Also wrt the DPF - maybe I'm unusual but my SOHC 8V BMM didn't cooperate very well with the DPF...
