Service Schedule 10k miles But?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The service light popped up on my 1.6 TDI however Iam sure yesterday it was saying 3000k until service yet today its now just saying service.

It was last serviced 54900 Full service Oil change and all filters (DIY job)

The car is now at 61400 asking for a service. So thats 6500 miles I guess on the last service I reset the clock and got delayed on the service whoops. Out of interest even though the service light would not have been on if I had reset the service light would it have bought everything back into line? Or does skoda want you to plug in for that?

I tend to opt to have the car serviced every 10k miles as I do more shot to medium trips. Does the car monitor how you drive and put you on the correct service?

Thanks

If it's on fixed it's probably past it's 'days' time span. Fixed is mileage and yearly based, so which ever comes first.

So thats how fixed works!

Out of interest what’s the other option from fixed?

Variable interval service regime.

2 years or up to nnnnn* miles which ever occurs first.

*nnnnn is a dynamically calculated figure between 9300 and 18600 miles. It is calculated by a complex formula based on monitoring many variables basically looking at driving cycles, driving style, engine thermal and power data, oil data from the oil quality sensor etc etc.

The car must use 504/507 spec oil which will be detected by the oil sensor and is only suitable for owners with certain driving profiles. See here http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes

Can only be set/reset by dealer diagnostics or full vcds.

Best avoided if you plan to keep the car a long time.

Fixed is 15000km as well so that's around 9500 miles not 10k.

My car display recently started it's countdown to a service and last week it displayed "SERVICE NOW", so I booked it in and it was serviced & MOT'd today 9th Dec 2016 (minor service). Tonight, I was looking at the MOT certificate and it shows the mileage when the last MOT was done (I always get both service & MOT done together).

The last service was actually done in January this year & only 9,000 miles ago. If my diesel Octavia should be serviced every 10,000 miles or 1 year, why would the display show a service was due after 11 months and 9,000 miles?

It's in the previous post to yours. The clock computer tracks it as 15,000 km so about 9,3xx miles or 12 months, whichever sooner.

Actually just went out to my car and off the details of the last service indicator reset, it is 372 days and 9,4xx miles so near enough to what I said.  For ease of reference referred to as 10k / 12 months.
