Chrome Indicator bulbs

Featured Replies

I have recently purchased some 'chrome' indicator bulbs to lose the 'fried egg' effect for the indicators and found that the ones I received were VERY dim and I would consider them not road legal. Are they all the same ? I've sent them back. Has anyone had luck with these bulbs and if so, what brand/shop can they be purchased with confidence. Cheers. :)

Osram Diadems.

Do you mean on the wings or the front headlight unit indicator bulbs?

I've fitted Philips SilverVision to front and back which I got from Powerbulbs.com. No problems at all.

Chris, front & rear. I fitted them to the rear first (main cluster) and they were dangerously dim. As much as I wanted to fit them in a hurry, it's just not worth it and they're probably illegal as well. Ebay, £4 for a pair, AVOID. Lesson learnt. :thumbdwn:

Probably bulbs someone "painted" :D

Philips Silvervisions here, no problems at all

ditto as above!

I fitted silvervisions to the front of my Fabia VRS. They are an improvemen over the bright orange standard ones, and they are very bright. My only citicism of the phillips bulbs is that they are only chromed at the ends so in sunny conditions you still get a slight fried egg appearance in the headlight.

Anyone else found a similar problem with the Phillips Silvervisions?

I wouldn't classify it as a problem as such. There's a slight orange tinge if you look at just the right angle but no fried egg look anymore. You'd really have to be looking very close to notice it.

The base of the Philips bulb is slightly orange to look at but the majority of it is silver. I'd hazard a guess that it's to do with the way it's made.

I was put off the Osram Diadem because it looks ... erm ... blue. Wierd!

Ive allways stuck with silvertec bulbs and they have been just fine.

Diadems are good quaility but still look orange at some angles.

They're sold by a shop on eBay, come in proper packaging but are cheap & nasty. :thumbdwn:

I did my own, they work fine, night or day they are nice and bright.
