Brake discs and Pads

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 2011 Octavia vRS and am close to having to replace the discs and pads.

Any recommendations from where to purchase and the exact ones to purchase or a possible upgrade on stock etc.

I would rather buy myself and fit rather than go to Skoda who is charging close to €500 to do it.

Any advice is welcome from you all.

Thanks for reading.

depends if you want  oem stuff or upgraded stuff? When mine are due i`m going with the tarox G88 disks and possibly ferodo pads up front, you don`t say if its front/back or both

Front and Back getting done

The front ought to be 312mm x 25mm.

The rear on my 2011 vRS Estate were  272 x 10mm Bosch OEM.  You can measure, or look at PR option code on sticker in boot, or in service handbook record.  1KT / 1KS is 272mm.

1KP is 282mm disc and TRW caliper combination which is also common.

The eurocarparts website didn't even list the 272mm when I needed to do mine. Looking at it now, it is slightly better as it lists both the 272mm and 282mm for rear with my reg, so you need to know what you've got.  It says they've got 30%, off online at moment and they have Brembo, ATE, Bosch et al. so lots of OEM spec replacements.

I bought aftermarket Mintex pads and rotors and they have been plenty good enough for me. Feel a lot better than what was on there but it was pretty knackered.   Front and rear discs and pads cost me about £130 from a smaller motor factor who did mail order (edit: Premier Motor Factors near Walsall).

The wire springs at the front and the thin steel slide clips for the rear can be worthwhile to have on hand to replace at the same time as well as some ceratec grease for assembly. The springs and clips are commonly referred to as accessory kits.

I put Pagid disks and pads all round on my VRS. Very pleased with them.

Got them from ECP.

Don't be rushed into buying because of the 30% discount though.

This offer comes up very often, especially if you register with them, and if you put items in your basket.

Just check your emails - they will probably offer you a flash sale, 7pm to 9pm or something like that.

Yes, look at the final price rather than the implied discount. But the prices I looked at are discounted when the listing comes up and then, if you put the code in there is a further 30% off so evaluate the bottom line after all discounts but not the "discount" itself!!!

Thanks lads for all the replies.

I just went for standard Skoda OEM stuff for the rears on mine.  A local Skoda/Audi specialist charged £165, sourced and fitted.
