Whining noise from front passenger side wheel.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Roomster 1.6 diesel from 2010.

It's done 50,000 miles.

Last week it started to make a whining noise from what appears to be the front passenger wheel area.

Travelling at less than 30 mph no noise, between 30 and 50 noise.

The noise lessons at 60mph.

This car has had all its services etc.

When I drive straight, if the noise there, and I try an turn, the noise increases.

any ideas?

If the noise is worse when cornering, I'd suspect the outer CV joint, or possibly the wheel bearing.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

It was the wheel bearing ............however there was an interesting twist.

The garage changed the front passengers wheel bearing (where the noise was coming from).

On driving with the NEW wheel bearing there was still the same noise coming from the same wheel area.

They then changed the drivers side wheel bearing and thankfully the noise disappeared.

Hmmmmmm.
