Scroll wheel not working properly

Featured Replies

Until today I've had no problems with my 6 month old Fabia.

Today I've discovered that the scroll wheel on the right side of the steering wheel isn't working. At best it's hit and miss/intermittent and at worst not working at all.

It's the wheel for Audio,Phone,Driving Data,Front Assist etc. and I use it regularly.

Anyone else had this and is there a fix?

Not had the problem but the fix is easy. Back to dealer.....it's under warranty. Simple.

Out of interest, I wonder if a fault code has been logged, I mention that was my wife's 13 month old Polo has logged an intermittant fault with the On/Off switch on the Multimedia/Infotainment system, I had not considered that there would have been a fault code for that! So that means I'll eventually need to visit the dealer, or wait for next service probably as I've not noticed this fault "happening".

I'm going to take my car to the main dealer this week and show them.

The cynical side of me says they'll plug it in,find no fault and blame me somehow?

The trusting side of me says they'll have it in,lend me a courtesy car for the day and have it sorted by teatime.

I've replaced more than a handful for exactly that fault.

Take a video on your phone to back up your concern, share it with the repairing dealer and skoda will support the warranty claim.

Thanks James, will do,and hopefully they are familiar with it too.

It's not a steering wheel change is it?

The controls can be replaced without removing the wheel. Just make sure that the chrome trim doesn't get damaged when it's fitted as it's very brittle.

I'll mention the chrome trim too, thanks!

It's part of the button set but worth a check to make sure it doesn't get broken during fitment.

Fabia booked in for 17th October.

Asked for an Octavia vrs as a courtesy car and he pointed at a Citigo. Oh well,I tried.

It's started working again! Wonder why?

I don't know whether to cancel the booking at Skoda now? It may stop working again though!

If the dealer is not a million miles away I would still take it in and ask them to keep a record of your visit to support any future issue that may arise if it stops working again

Thanks. I may well cancel the appointment then.

Did you make a video?

Kicking myself now because after showing the sales person, and his agreeing it was faulty,I totally forgot!

They usually log a fault code so there's more than enough justification to replace them :)

So I should go ahead and have it replaced?

Sure. If there's a code then you'll be fine.

Ok,thanks for the help and advice James.

Well I've dropped my Fabia off at the dealer this morning for the scroll wheel to be replaced under warranty.

I've been lent a bright metallic green Skoda Rapid, which is bright and rapid :D
