Because it may fall into the wrong VED bracket in the UK and therefore be economically not viable. (As I have said before!)[/quote

Agreed, but still don't really understand. If it's not 'economically viable' it won't sell, won't get ordered, so won't get made !

Could it be something to do with the fact that the UK needs RHD cars?  Not that RHD makes any difference to the paint shop, of course, but I can envisage that it might have scheduling implications on the production line; for example, if the system isn't flexible enough to allow RHD cars to be built in amongst the LHD ones, so they have to be done in batches?

If you watch videos of modern production lines you will find different cars, different variants and different colours all going down the line together. Gone are the days of "batch" construction.

Suburbs are produced on the same line as Yeti's.

Right hand drive models sold in the Republic of Ireland with spec not available as imported into the UK by Skoda UK.

I'm sure someone here has investigated?

Investigated what?

Different markets, different taxation and the RoI is in the Eurozone.

Nice commercials often available that the UK does not get.

...

Imports?

Sorry confused now, do you mean importing Skoda to the UK that were first Imported to Ireland?

Back to the subject of the 1.4 TSI without ACT. I'm pleased to report that I'm delighted with our 1.4 L&K. Our previous Yeti was a 110 2wd TDI. The 1.4 is noticeably quicker and 'nippier' (probably due to the lighter engine, 4wd and better weight distribution). The only area it can be sluggish is at the bottom of the rev range before the turbo spools up. Coming from a diesel it did catch me out a couple of times at first causing it to bog down.

Economy wise, now its loosening up a bit, general running sees 35mpg and 40mpg is achievable on a long 70mph motorway run. I find that running on Shell VPower give a couple of extra mpg and a more responsive low down power delivery. It's a very nice engine and far quieter than the diesel as you would expect.

More choice (lower spec, 2wd and DSG) has been widely discussed and would be nice, but as said, no clue as to the thinking of Skoda on that one.

DSG and the latest spec engines would go to VW and Audi first perhaps?.

Maybe they still think the UK is a 'manual' zone.

I was surprised how loud the turbo is in the cabin on our 1.4 TSI. Any other owners thought the same?

Haven't noticed the turbo at all unless the window is open

Cannot hear my turbo at all - suggest you have this checked out. Make sure it is not the air con - alternate switch to check [known swarf in system fault] mine makes this distant ringing noise on occasion.

Same here. I very rarely hear the turbo spooling up.

No, haven't heard any noise from mine I only feel the boost come in! Maybe you have a problem with yours

I agree - I can't hear the turbo at all. Definitely get this checked out.
