Suspension revisited

Featured Replies

Revisiting an old question

Has anyone managed to get any reasonable looking suspension on stock OEM part numbers for Fabia vRS ?

Is it possible with somehow on oem springs or oem part numbers originally intended at some point for Fabias you can get a reasonable looking spring for the vRS ?

(even could higher mileage springs tend to settle more etc).

Just because I'm thinking to de-HR spring my car for better insurance.

As my insurance will be coming up in March and I'm thinking remaining with Flux is probably going to be from existing £350 or more -last year I missed out on quotes like £200 ish!

I don't think I'm going to go the further modification route on the Mk1....

despite in my heart I know this is the coolest way to go, even when only moderate like I have already.

( insurance on Fabia is already £100 more than my faster o3 petrol vrs, lols - what a joke ). I'm happy with the gap on my o3 as standard  as Skoda managed to get that one right ( it might be sport suspension, but is genuine Octy / Skoda OEM on that car ).

Hence for the moment I'm not convinced having any modifications are that worthwhile for multiple vehicles IMO in my personal case at least whilst I still have 2 cars and hence worried about cost of insuring two instead of one

( but vive le difference and all for anyone modifying their cars, go for it ).

Any pics of what you might consider an "okay" gap on Skoda/VW part numbers ?

To be fair I think the HR is lower than it needs to be, but the OEM look is quite comical, its a pity there isn't some kind of geuine part option in between the two that could be considered standard.

I believe Eibach springs were sold as an OE option under the Skodasport banner or somesuch.

For 10quid a month extra that sounds like a lot of ballache for little gain

Hi,

If you wanted to PM me your details when your policy is due I'll make sure it is the best we can offer.

Regards,

Dan.

With the greatest of respect Dan, thats not really very good when compared with standard insurance quotes.

£350 vs £200 odd last year on Fabia ( with relatively minor-mods).

Similar story on my Octy which is coming up for renewal, quoted £400 min (before any mods!) in comparison to £250 ish.

So as a prudent chap I just really have my thinking cap on, and thinking, this modifying thing, is it really worth it ?

Don't get me wrong I think it has its place for those who want to modify but with 2+ vehicles struggle to justify paying anything from 1.5 to 2x more than standard insurance policies can offer on comparison sites.
