Rs Electric window stopped workin

Featured Replies

I have my RS about 6 months and adore it.

There the other day I was lockin it and the car kept buzzin at me as if the lights were on. So just locked it with the key.

Now the alarm is workin ok but b 4 the key buttons would also open the doors, not now, not even the spare.

Also the electric windows will not work, none of them. I still have electric mirrors but not much use when im havin a cig.

What is the problem does anyone know.

Checked the manual and tried to re sync the key but did not work.

Thanks:)

Sounds like a blown fuse...

Did you try keeping the key turned while locking the car with the key? If they dont all open/ close while the key is turned, then it's something like a fuse, or a central convenience controller fault.

I'm have a problem with my central locking, my 4x4 keeps unlocking itself and refuses to stop, have to have the central convenience controller unit replaced. £350. I really really hope its just a fuse mate, cos I wouldn't wish the bill I just got on my worst enemy!

Actually I just noticed your in Virigina!

You better hope its not the central convenience controller, cos I just ordered the last one in the country apparently, and I have to wait 8 - 10 days before the part is delivered and can be fitted! Sorry Dude!

Hope its not that controler. Ill check the fuses and pray its that thats blown. Heres hoping

If you have access to VAG-COM you can scan Address 46 - Central Convenience - to see if any error codes have been logged.

Just after checking the fuses and none are blown. But now my windows are working again. She must have just wanted me to mess about with her insides.

Thanks for all the help.:D:thumbup:

Twice now I've had a problem where both windows lose their 'one touch' facility, the passenger window doesn't open at all, and while the key fob locks the doors, it doesn't activate the alarm. Both times, whipping out fuse 45 and putting it back in has been enough to reset whatever system has gone belly-up, and everything goes back to normal (don't even have to manually reset the one-touch like you need to when you disconnect the battery) I know mine's a Fabia not an Octy, but it's the same kind of thing...

Next time you come down to Dublin, let me know and I'll run it through VAG-COM.

Actually lads,

Now that I think about it, the first time I noticed anything dodge with the electrics was when the auto up funtion on the drivers window stopped half way up and decided to go back down of its own accord.

Well I collected it from the garage today and they've disconnected the central convenience controller, so now I've no windows / sun roof or central locking (in fact I don't think I have wipers I didn't check) and I put down the deposit of €440 for the new unit, and I pay the outstanding balance of €80 once its fitted.

Shockin!

Ouch... I hate to see so much money go to waste especially since its for a little plastic box that'll fit in your hand!

That sounds about right when that little fella dies. I wouldn't be surprised about the wipers.

Welcome to Briskoda btw todonova! I'm sure Gaff has already sent you a PM....

Well spotted ;)

Hi todonova, PM on its way :D

New software in updated window motors sorts that out. Have done a few recently.

 Thanks BPM for the offer. Its due a service so ill see what if any thing they come up with. And welcome to todonova. Looking at your profile and u mention a VW. Me and a few friend are re-building a 1.8 16v at the moment. Nice car.

Thanks for the welcome lads, nice to be among friends!

Your rebuilding a 1.8 16v! Best of look, sounds like a whole load of fun, I'd love to have a go myself, but I'll have to wait till I have a garage.

Anybody know anything about fitting Xenon's? I know nothing about it, but just read a note on the site to say that someone had done it. All advise welcome.

Did you get my PM ?

PM? Sorry I'm new here!

Whats a PM?

Sad thing is I'm a programmer! I don't even know that much!

Here's a question, am I the only one in the country with a 4x4 Turbo? When I went to pay the VRT (which is a disgrace!), I had to wait hours cos they didn't have that model on the system, so I assume mine is the first, but are there any others?

I really liked the vRS don't get me wrong, but I've a small baby so that interior would have taken a kicking very quickly, white carpets! Also, 4x4 is safer (baby again) and 150bhp is better when the wife is behind the wheel than 180!

A PM is a Private Message. Check to the top right of your screen

I've seen the odd 4x4 around, so you're not the only one! But they're as rare as the RS.
