Timing belt

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

Looking for your views my 2010 octavia Vrs diesel has just ticked over 60k

I've owned the car almost a year now and had no issues with it other than the air conditiong pump going

I now need to do the belt and water pump

I've been offered by a local garage who have stated if buy the parts they will do the job for 160 cash but with no warranty as it will be off the books...

The other option is have it done through the books for 393 with a years warranty

Or for 465 go with skoda and gets year warranty

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the belt and prices etc.....

Thanks Dan

With skoda you get 2 years warranty so for another £70 id get them to do it,i wouldnt go down the cash with no warranty route as a timing belt/pulley/tensioner failure would result in engine damage that would cost a lot to repair.
