Alloy Wheel Size & Lowering Size

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New to this forum but I have been apart of a few different car forums.

My Car

1.2 2003 fabia

I have had a good search around for my answer but just can find a straight answer.

- If I get some 16" alloys, what's the lowest profile I can go to give it that sportier look?

- If I get 16's with low profile - What lower size should I go for? 25 or 35? OR should I get stock sport vrs springs?

Thanks Aiden

Don't use stock VRS sports springs, the VRS is about 250kg heavier than your little 1.2 so VRS springs will be just horrible on it.

You can fit 17" wheels if you really want to go low profile with the tyres, 25mm lower is good for handling and comfort but doesn't 'look' as sporty as 35 or even 50mm.

If you're on a budget then just get some springs, I believe you can get springs which will lower 40-45mm, any more than that needs a set of coilovers which are more expensive.

Awesome, I will look at that.

Its quite a shame, I'm use to my 1.9 150 BHP Zafira, which for a big car kicked some ****. Due to funds, I've had to cut back. That and the fact to get the dearbox and clutch fixed on my daddycool car will cost over 2K. I scrapped it lol.

I'm thinking some 16's on low profile with a 50 drop, what profile would you suggest?

16" wheels need 205/45/R16 tyres and 17" wheels take 205 or 215/40/R17

Anything less than ET30 starts to get seriously outside the wheelarches (standard is something like ET37 I think) and personally I'd stick to stock Fabia or Octavia alloy wheels. The first mod most vRS owners do is drop the car and put 17's on so there are lots of spare 16" wheels kicking about. 16" vRS wheels go for about £100 a set on here.

Impossible to answer from the information provided.

Look for;

16 or 17"

6.5"-8"J

ET 32-ET45

Centre bore 57.1mm

Stud spacing 5x100mm

They will all fit straight on with the tyre sizes posted above. No rubbing, no other adjustments required.

Modern VAG wheels are 5x112mm and even later the centre bore is 66.6mm so you would need adapters. Skoda OEM are the best.
