Cheers Mike sorry I should have said it's a 10 plate face-lift. I apologise I have obviously got confused with the names of the things.

So just to clarify I'm definitely plugged into pin 50 of the centre white plug.

I only ask as I had glanced at some of the footwell light discussions recently then pulled my white plug out the other day and nearly made this error - but are you absolutely certain it is in pin 50, and not pin 9?

The diagram linked below had me expecting that #50 would be the one closer to the nearside, so when I stuck my head in the footwell, looked up and saw that my BCM had no pin there I was a little concerned! Looking at the diagram again after though it was clear that the pin should be closer to offside instead.

OK so none of the footwell lights are working. I double checked today is definitely in pin 50 I stuck my head in and could see the numbers. Im wondering if your right with your first suggestion that the connection is not reaching the pin 50 properly. Although would I get a fault if the lights we're not getting power.

The earth I'm sure is OK but it won't do any harm giving it another check.

I also double checked the coding both boxs were definitely checked.

They are LED bulbs so that maybe something to check.

I don't have the maxidot
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep yous posted on how things go

Ok guys so I've been back out to the car just to go over everything and check it all.  I removed the white plug to check that I was actually in pin 50 and turns out you guys are right that I was actually in pin 9.  So now its swapped over everything is working great.  When I double checked it all yesterday before I posted, I could have sworn that I was in pin 50.  I will therefore hang my head in shame but at least it was an easy fix.

I appreciate all the help from everyone.

Thanks Mark

Mike, can you just clear up summat please: if you tick the first box (byte 12, bit 5), is that the option to have them on permanently when you're driving in the dark? I only want them to come on and off with the courtesy lights when opening the door, so am I reading correctly that I only need to get byte 20 bit 0 ticked to get that ?

Hah, makes me chuckle how quick you are on here sometimes! :)

Just posted on the other thread that I wondered which CECM my '58 would be with part 1k0 959 433 BT as I've had occasional other fl parts in there, but I'm guessing that either way I just need to get my man with VCDS to tick both those boxes to get it all up and running, correct?

Deep joy, eh?! ;) Thanks mike.

The BT part number is your central convenience,  not the central electronic module.  Your CECM could well be an AJ version,  you'll need a vcds scan to find this out. Having separate modules will mean that the footwell lights will only work with the courtesy lights,  as on the  Octavia,  the FL  BCM is needed for ambient lighting.  The 3c8 version which does support ambient lighting was never fitted to the Octavia preFL

The only preFL with a combined BCM was the latest 09 plate vRS limited edition.

Hi Mike,

I might be reviving an old thread here but I'm about to fit footwell lights to my 58 plate pre-facelift Octavia.  I've read some (but not all of this thread... ok, so I got bored), but I'm confused and I hoped that you could clarify a couple of things.

Being pre-FL, the car has separate CECM and convenience modules and I understand that I should connect the +ve lead for the lights to Pin 7 of Block B, is this correct?

The part numbers of the convenience module and CECM are 1K0 959 433 BT and 3C8 937 049 E, respectively.  Does my version of CECM support ambient lighting?

Finally (as an aside), I have fitted a facelift Maxidot cluster in order to support a mk3 MFSW (1Z0 920 943 M).  However, I do not currently see menus for convenience and lights settings - can these menus be enabled with my convenience/CECM setup?

Thanks in advance
