Ocavia MkII 1.9dti. what is intermittent scraping noise, mostly when turning?

Featured Replies

Hello anybody and everybody.

I have an Octavia MkII 1.9dti. Whilst away visiting family 250 miles from our place, we were driving along when suddenly there was an awful sound, like the exhaust had dropped off. Checked underneath, nothing to see. Drove to a kindly garage bloke who looked it over, and underneath, and under the bonnet, he declared it was fine and found nothing. The noise was gone, we drove the 250 miles home, just as we turned into our street, it happened again, but more like a scraping sound this time. It happened again today. Can anyone help with an idea of what it could be? The car had new discs and pads all round about 5 months ago. Thanks

Jack up and secure the front and check inside the lower coil of the suspension springs, chances are you'll find the top part of the spring, the pigtail, snapped off and laying inside the strut cup.

I think its more likely Mike than Mic
