Trying to book a service

Featured Replies

Have been trying to book my car in for a service and a couple of other small things I want looking at, for the last few days now. Called once on Friday, was told service department was with a customer but they'd call me back. Never came. Tried again twice on Saturday, first time they were busy and didn't call back, second time I tried service had gone home by then, but was told they'd again leave a note and I'd be given a call back first thing on Monday. Never came. So I waited until half 4 yesterday and tried for the last time. Was told they were busy and they'd call back.

I'm beginning to think they just don't want my money? I probably sound inpatient but I've got a busy few weeks ahead and I'd like to get it booked in and off my list of things to do. Taking 2 minutes to call me back doesn't seem like too much to ask lol. Only reason I haven't gone elsewhere already is because usually the service once I'm at the dealer is pretty good, I'd need a courtesy car and ideally I'd like to maintain the car with a full Skoda service history. Not particularly for added value come sale time, but hopefully if anything big does go wrong they'd be more willing to help me out a bit.

Not wrong to expect a call back fairly soon after am I?

Had this before, and it can be frustrating!

If I have a few failed return calls, I usually ring back and explain politely the situation to the receptionist, & tell thrm I need to book ASAP. More often than not, that works. Just try not to lose your rag, that doesn't work!!

I'm afraid that's been my experience of both of my local Skoda dealerships since day one of ownership. Including the one most people swear the sun shines out of.

The most common response I get when I call them back after they have yet again failed to return my call is, "Oh, I was just about to call you!"

Not always convenient or practicable, but I now just drive to them and make my bookings.

Good to see you get a courtesy car. At the other dealership, the one where Hell freezes over, I have yet to get a courtesy car in 6 years of ownership, even when I've requested one.

Why waste money at a Main dealers if it is for the Twincharger & it is Remapped?

It is only a Oil & Filters change and a look see and you do not want them doing a Spark Plug change or Software Update.

If standard you might as well buy a Skoda Warranty and have them service it because Goodwill on Twinchargers seems to be a thing of the past or a lottery since the new Btand Manager took over and the latest Call Handlers started work at Skoda UK CS's.

I think it was just an oil and filter change plus while they were at it change the spark plugs (for ones supplied by myself). But I also wanted them to take a look at the clutch pack. But yeah it is remapped so the goodwill thing probably wouldn't ever come into it anyway. I'll give them until the end of the day to call me back and then I'll find a dealer elsewhere. But like I said last time they serviced the car I got a courtesy car which made my day and getting to and from work a lot easier with less hassle which was worth the little extra cost, as well as 2 free extra bottles of VW screen wash which was nice. Claims it's effective down to -70C which seems a bit over the top for most of the planet lol.

That's odd; Henry's (North) have always offered me a courtesy car which I've politely declined with "I'm going shopping in town so I don't need one".

The lack of provision of a courtesy car was for the Skoda dealership south of them.

The dealership you quoted have always supplied a courtesy car, but I have always had to ask for one. And I only ask for one as they always take far longer to carry out work than they quote.

My concern about the extended warranty would be that it only covers "...sudden and unexpected mechanical or electrical failure..." - if you're unlucky enough to have an oil user you may have to put up with it unless it suddenly goes pop (even then I could see them wheeling out the old favourite 'wear and tear'...).
