Draining tank

Featured Replies

I had an issue last week someone on a roundabout missed there turn and came straight into my lane causing an accident which has resulted in my car being written off since its 10yrs old and done 150k it has a full tank of fuel i had just filled it is there an easy way to drain the tank. I wasnt sure if i could take a pipe off at the fuel filter and turn the ignition on to run the pump or if i could even syphon it out of the filler cap.

I don't think that you can syphon out of the filler cap because there should be some anti-theft protection.

I would try that way, don't see how it wouldn't work. Or you can get access to remove the tank sender unit under the rear seat squab , a pipe in there and a big suck? and syphon into can.

The sender unit could be the best way ive got a hand pump at work for emptying diesel tanks i could use that. How is the sender unit attached the car is still with the insurance company so i cant check.
