It appears the fault lies with a pin lost through corrosion in a box attached to the gearbox (see pic attached).


The box is orientated as in the photo and a faulty seal has allowed water to sit in the bottom and rot away one of the pins. 


Has anybody heard of this before and is the only solution really to change the metatronic unit at great expense?

You could try ...

 

Clean out the crud, clean all the pins, scrape back a bit of plastic at the base of the corroded pin and clean what remains of the blade.

Try to solder on a new blade cut from a crimp connector.

Hope it works !

Seal up the connector housing.
