3 seat icon on dot matrix / one front cornering light on - other off

Featured Replies

When I turn ignition on in the bottom right of the dot matrix there appears 3 seat which is replaced by trip after a few seconds. Can't work out what this does

Also I got out the car to check the headlights with engine running and one of the cornering lights was on. Just wondering why

Thanks

Rear seatbeltwarning. System to check if rear passengers are using seatbelt.

Did your steering wheel point straight ahead or turning left/right?

The seats symbol will show you which seat belts are plugged-in at the rear.

Its just a basic system so doesn't tell you if there is someone actually sitting in that position though (just that the belt is plugged or not).

As KjetilRos says the single fog light is likely due to the "cornering foglight" option.

At low speeds the fog light will illuminate based on steering angle to help light the corner.

Heh, if you've never had anyone in the back I suppose it might be harder to figure out. I had my wee girl's car seat buckled in pretty much from day one and thought it was pretty cool

it does, if there is someone in a rear eat it flags up if the seatbelt isn't fastened

I was on an internal US flight last week and the flight attendant asked for everyone to buckle up their seatbelts (as per normal), she then proceeded to count down how many were left - I didn't know planes knew how many seat belts were waiting to be fastened!

You sure about that?

Last week after I had mentioned I always get the three seats symbol on the Maxidot (even when the rear seats are empty) an adult, who was sitting in the rear, deliberately didn't fasten their seat belt so we could see what happened.

I got no warning sound or anything else when moving away - so from my experience it just relies on the alertness of the driver to notice that the number of filled in seats in the symbol on the Maxidot doesn't match the number of people sitting in the back.

It took me a while to work this out as I usual have the back seats empty. I found out when I had my cats in back seat on the way to the vet (I put the belts round their boxes), and noticed that only the centre icon showed up.

If the adult in the back had then fastened their seat belt the icon changes for that seat to show a belt across it... there won't be a warning sound it is just a visual thing. If you have three passengers in the rear it will show you one by one as they all belt up...

Which is as I tried to say...

You originally said:

As there are no seat occupancy sensors it flags up that the seat belt isn't fastened whether someone is in the seat or not, that's the distinction I was trying to make.
