Evening all, hoping the grouped wisdom here can help me decipher the manual.

I should be helping my mum pick up a load of gravel in the next few days, and I've been looking through the manual to try and work out what the maximum load/payload my Superb can take - I'm talking about internally as I don't have a towbar.  I have found in the manual it states the payload is the difference between the permissible total weight and the operating weight (page 220), but I can't find the permissible total weight anywhere, other than some data about maximum weights depending on types of tyres.  For my car the operating weight is apparently 1,465kg.

We need to collect about 500kg of gravel.  I am thinking that might be too much for one car/trip and suspect we'll split it between my car and mum's 2011 plate Vauxhall Meriva, but if anyone can shed light on what I can and can't lug about that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Maximum payload of 620/675/705 KG for the normal car and 640/685/715 KG for the combi depending on version.

So in the worst case you can put 620/640 KG for normal/combi.

Great, thanks - Mine's the 1.6 TDI hatch, but irrespective of that the 620kg noted above is more than I need.

Appreciate the info - was this in the manual and I just didn't read long enough?

And remember that load needs to be evenly spread rather than just over one axle.
