Roomster Scout with 14" winter wheels

Featured Replies

I've just bought a set of 14" steels with winter tyres - it never occurred to me that they may not fit over the standard disc brakes.

Any ideas? Don't much fancy getting under the car in this weather for nothing.

Well, I'm not a Roomster owner, but, if you check up on a brake parts website and find out that the front discs are 256mm then you are okay, if they are 288mm then you are out of luck, 15" minimum with 288mm discs.

Edit:- you could check if the front brake callipers have FS111 moulded into the body, if so I'd guess that 256mm discs are fitted, if ATE front callipers are fitted (vertical wire anti rattle spring used) then I'd guess that 288mm discs are fitted.

Really? Bugger.

I found myself in a similar situation when buying my wife a new Polo 1.2TSI 110PS, (spoken in a very quiet voice) I seem to have, or had an Audi Driver subscription and in the for sale section were a set of four A1 alloys with winter tyres, only used one winter, luckily I did not just jump in as, these alloys were 16" same as fitted to summer tyres on Polo so no great bonus in winter, also the offset sounded a bit different and finally the seller wanted proper (Audi sized) money for them, so I wised up and looked for some "good enough as new" 15" VW alloys on German ebay and bought a set of four Michelin Alpins - and still had lost of change over what was being asked for the A1 16" alloys with winter tyres.

This is a bit of a sod. I will have a trial fit on Saturday before I weep softly in my beer
