Replacing battery... help

Featured Replies

Morning gents, just come to replacing the battery and the cover over the battery will not come off. I cannot seem to figure out how the rear clip and left hand clip come off? I've removed the right hand side clip easily. I'm extremely hungover and been at it an hour, why do they what should be an easy job so complex?

It's not complex, the lid hinges up, remove the two battery terminals with a 10mm spanner, undo 13mm clamp bolt at the bottom using a socket and extension and pull the battery straight up out of the box, I guess you're still out of yours.

On my model (BLT) the cage over the top is held down by 3 clips, I'm either being plain stupid and not being able to figure out how the clips work to remove them or it genuinely is a ******* of a job to do.

Excessive alcohol consumption is similar in effect to a chemical lobotomy, nonetheless, are you saying that your battery box does not have a hinged lid giving access to the top of the battery?

The only hinged part is a small cover which reveals the positive terminal, I've now managed to fit the battery after removing 2 of the clips, the 3rd one snapped and seems to have gone into orbit.

Later cars got a different battery fusebox/cover section to the earlier cars.

On earlier car the rear clip (alone, by pulling it forwards towards you) releases top cover  and fuseboard together to hinge up and reveal the battery. The side clips pull outwards to allow the top cover to come away from the fuseboard section.
