Will the MK1 vRS rise in value

Featured Replies

OK, we all know that MK1's are selling for around 12.5-13k as dealers clear the stock. However, once they are all gone, and given the Mk2 sells for approx 17k, will we (in 12 months time) see an increase in 2nd hand value of the Mk1 over its current value ?

Discuss :)

Doubt it! unless it rated a much better car than mk2. Which i doubt also. History suggests it won't make much difference, if anything they will reduce the value slightly.

What till they start discounting the mkII, then go hunting for a mkI bargain vRS. :D

when is the MK2 out??

Now, official launch data is 23rd. Correct me if Iam wrong guys

No chance of the old one rising in value , but the depreciation should be fairly light .

They have been availalbe to order for some time (we have three onsite atm).

There are some bargain MK1's about as it is. Saw a 51 plate with 30k on it up for under £5k the other day.

Damn that is fantastic! shame i'm not ready to buy yet!

'Rise in value' was perhaps the wrong question. What I meant to say was that the 2nd hand value of the MK1 vRS is being depressed by dealers clearing their stock at up to 3k below list price, however once that stock is gone, will there be a steadying of 2nd hand values ?

You'd expect so. The rule as always is supply and demand. I expect it will level out. So far i've not personally seen any fluctuation in the asking price for 51/02 plate vRS but it appears Lummox has.

I think depreciation will slow down, but as stated, there will be some bargain Mk1 vRSs around in the next year or so.
