What Skoda Infotainment system is this please ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, any help appreciated.

Agreed a deal to trade in my 2011 Yeti for a 2016 (16) Skoda Yeti Outdoor 2.0 TDI CR SE Business.

I don't pick up this car for a couple of days but research leads me to believe the advertised 'infotainment' system is wrong !

Car is advertised with " Amundsen sat nav system with DAB radio, MP3 player, Aux-in, USB and SD Card "

This is a picture of the installed system. i-M3rjTF3.jpg

No NAV button ?

I have now spoken to my local Skoda dealer and after asking for the Reg No of the car he said 'no sat nav '  ( but didn't seem convinced ? )

I cannot find out what model is in this new car (see pic) I'm guessing 'Bolero' but it looks different to other Bolero's I see.

Can it be upgraded to sat-nav ? if not can it be replaced with a sat-nav model from Skoda/other manufacturers ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Yep, that's the Bolero Infotainment system.

There was an earlier version of Bolero which looks different, hence the confusion.

I've looked at a few Skoda Yeti Outdoor SE Business cars and they all state Amundsen II Sat-Nav as standard.

Yep - standard Bolero so no Nav. No nav also means it's a 'normal' SE not a business edition.

Thanks guys as I suspected a Bolero.

Not sure what the ' Business ' edition entails ? But I understand any model specification can be changed ? So if someone already had a good sat nav and wanted to save a bit of cash they could ' de-select' sat nav.

Hopefully someone can confirm this Bolero is DAB ?

I think essentially Business Edition just gave you the nav, voice and DAB over standard SE spec - I don't think it gave you anything else but others may put that right.

What colour

Only you can do that.

Switch radio on, at the bottom left of screen will be AM, FM or DAB.

Touch that and you'll see if it has all 3 or is just AM and FM.

What colour

Quartz Grey.

However I do not collect this car from my local garage until later in the week ( towbar to be fitted ) I am already p***ed off because I thought I was buying a Yeti with Amundsen and sat nav & DAB ? ( as advertised ) DAB was also high on the ' wanted ' list because I like Radio 5L sport which is crap on AM radio. What else is missing from the extensive spec list, cruise control ?

I think I will cancel the purchase if no DAB radio, shame because a lovely low mileage car.

They might have mixed up model by colour BUSINESS GREY

I hope that whoever fitted the tow bar has correctly reprogrammed the car!!

Well, it certainly looks like the car has been advertised as a ' business ' model I.e. extra spec sat nav / DAB when it is a SE.

I think it is a genuine mistake I bought my current Yeti at this my local garage.

It is a crying shame but I'm not going to spend this sort of money if it is not the spec I want.

Please explain Graham.

Sometimes Dealers get another company to fit tow bar and not themselves and sometimes forget to program the car in VCDS to suit

If you are not having the car and they fit the towbar they will charge you

Quite right - I would be rather miffed and expect them to reimburse you for any expenses incurred too.

The towbar on my current Yeti was installed by the same towbar fitter who will remove it and fit to the new Yeti ( as stated I may not complete this purchase) as for reprogramming the car is this necessary ? The towbar is only used to mount my bike carrier (single electrics)

I'm assuming the reprogramming would be needed if I was towing caravans etc ?

I shall find out tomorrow if the car does not have DAB (I also suspect it may not have cruise control, also on my wish list)  and I shall cancel the purchase before the towbar is fitted Friday.

Not only in my view.

The reprogramming changes numerous features, but in your case you still need the car rear fog light off and the trailer board one illuminated, plus it alters the stability settings to take into account the extra weight on the back of the car, and it extends the alarm system so that if the board is unplugged the alarm sounds. Clever fixing of the board gives you an alarm system on the bikes!

Well in all honesty I do not know my existing Yeti was reprogrammed, I have used it with my Thule tow-ball mounted bike rack for 2 years with no problems. The bike rack lights, turn signals etc all work fine. I appreciate this proves nothing in relation to your question.

If the car is right for you bar the stereo maybe give the dealer a chance to fit a appropriate one, never know it might be a option for you.

The car is certainly right for us apart from we set our hearts on sat nav & DAB. We find the Amundsen sat nav (no DAB) in our existing Yeti (to be traded in) so much more convenient than a 'stand alone' sat nav.

Replacement car is not from a Skoda dealer so they would have no knowledge of exchange units. I am trying to contact my local Skoda dealer to see if it is possible to replace the existing Bolero unit with a Amundsen + (sat nav & DAB)

My online research leads me to believe this may cost close to £1000.00 !  (Amundsen unit £775.00 )  I may go back to my local dealer and see if he will give me a reduction in the price of the car as it was wrongly described in the first place ?

However the 'small print' on the new vehicle states (who ever reads all this) does say " Please be aware that the specification on vehicles can sometimes differ "

My dealer used these people to retrofit a Amundsen unit into my used Yeti as part of the purchase deal:

I don't know what they charged though.

They did a good job too.
