help... columbus head unit has decided to turn german

Featured Replies

can any please advise as my wife's Columbus head unit in her 2010 vrs has decided to change to German and every time you try and change the language it freezes .........

The BBC still offer free courses in German language... ;) Of course, you may not be looking for a divorce!

It could be software corruption, or hard drive failure, or main board failure. The first two can be fixed, the last one is terminal I'm afraid. I offer a repair service if you check the link in my sig.

hi   thank you for the reply. it seems to happen when my wife used the sd card card thats normally in the unit on some other hardware, her fathers computer i think

I'm not sure that's relevant. The sd card wouldn't have any bearing on the maps / language files which are stored on the hard drive, so using it on another device wouldn't cause your problem. It could be that the sd card being inserted has fritzed the software on the unit somehow, but it's a new one on me if it is the case.

Being sensible now.

I don't know which operating systems are involved, but it's not totally impossible that the Columbus has caught a worm from the SD card after it was used in her father's computer.
