List of Features for a Fabia SE L Estate and DSG 'box on 1.4TDi

Featured Replies

Our Motablilty car comes up for renewal next year. For the past two changes I've had a Golf Estate 1.6TDi DSG, the latest one being a Mk7 with ACC...

I notice that since the last purchase two years ago I can now get a Fabia diesel with the DSG 'box and, finally, ACC on the SE L as an extra which I now wouldn't want to do without!

Two requests:

1. Is there a simple list I can print out which lists all the specifications/features of an SE L spec Estate in one list rather than have to keep flipping between pages in the brochure?

2. Has anyone tried the 1.4TDi engine with the DSG 'box? I've found the 1.6 an ideal mate to the 7 speed DSG but having had an '07 reg 1.4TDi in the past i found the engine a bit more revvy so wondered if it was any good?

Thanks!

Thanks Offski, we are on our third Motability car so I know my way around them. What I was after was a simple list of all the stuff that the SE L Estate has, VW were able to provide me with this for the Golf to save trawling through all the brochure or configurator so it would be easy to compare with other makes. I've used the configurator before and found that I've accidentally missed things that I either wanted or didn't want so would rather have a simple black and white list! When you are looking at many cars and can't change the car for three years you need to get it right! ;)

Have you got a printer brochure.?

The different specs on the page tells you what it has over the models below that spec.

Try this link, it's from the Skoda UK Configurator and is a standard build 1.4Tdi SE L.

It gives a fairly comprehensive, although not always clear, list of the standard features.

Perfect, thanks!!

Anyone tried the 1.4TDi with a DSG 'box at all?

Yes, I've tried one and it was divine to drive with the DSG. But do try one as we are all different in what we think is 'divine'! I do too few miles per year to go for a diesel now but I've had the 1422cc 3 pot 80ps engined estate a few years ago and loved it. That was a manual box of course as there was no auto available at the time. The new 1.4 diesels are much more powerful than the older 80ps engine which had 200nm of torque at 2,200rpm. The new 1.4 with DSG has 90ps and 230nm of torque at 1750rpm and it really was noticeable how much more grunt it had. It was also much quieter than the previous model. I don't think you will go wrong with one. Good luck.

Thanks! I had an old Mk1 with the early 1.4TDi replacing a 1.9TDi and found it rather rough but things have changed a lot since then (2007 model). I will definitely ensure I get a proper test drive before buying!

Do you do the sort of journeys and miles that suit a TDI / DSG, or would a petrol suit.?

I have recently leased from Motability a 2.0TDI 150ps / DSG Alhambra to get the seating & space and for longer trips.

I am getting high 50's MPG easily and on runs 60 MPG + showing and actually being achieved as an average.

There is a very good offer of a low deposit on a Seat Leon ST (estate) 2.0TDI 150ps / DSG FR Technology.

This is a cracking car and i would have had one if i was not wanting the 7 seat's and carrying space with seats down.

It's a Motability car so the only "cost" I have when running it is fuel so it makes sense to use the most fuel efficient version.

I do around 14k p.a., 4 day a week 20 mile commute into a city centre with a combination of country roads, A roads and city roads (last 5 miles), the rest is either trips out or long distance motorway... I travel across Europe once a year covering 2.5/3k and drive to Aberdeen and back doing 1k. Currently I get about 55mpg (so Fuelly tells me!). I could live with a small decrease of that but would not want that average to go below about 53mpg. I don't recon the 1.2TSi could deliver 55 average mpg over a year. I recently rented a Yeti in the Czech Republic with a petrol engine and the DSG 'box (not certain of the engine, but probably a 1.4?) which I managed to get 43mpg but that was pottering around, never exceeding 70mph and definitely not flogging it!

If someone could give me long term mpg figures for the 1.2TSi, not based on guesses or brim to brim but using a proven method of checking mpg figures like Fuelly I may look deeper into whether I could use a petrol?

Hi, we had a skoda fabia 15 plate 1.4tdi dsg se estate, which I think was the 90ps version, are previous car before this was a hyundai i30 1.4 petrol manual, the fabia diesel had a lot more pull over the hyundai petrol engine. Over taking was so much easier in the fabia and the dsg doing the gear changes always gave you the confidence you had the power to easily overtake. I live in mid wales which has some steep hills and the skoda pulled up them no problem, the hyundai would struggle on steep inclines and you could find your self dropping down to 2nd gear but the fabia had no problem and would usually go no lower than 4th gear and keep up to speed.

Another plus for me was the hyundai was costing £52 to fill with a range of 485 miles, the fabia only cost £41 to fill and i was getting 535 mile range, according to the comp i averaged 66 mpg compared to just 51 mpg in the hyundai.

The fabia to me was a total pleasure to drive especialy being dsg. The things i liked the most about the se version was, front assist, and the speed limiter that was great at road works were they had speed cameras every few thousand yards. Stop start which works great with dsg, as soon as you lift your foot of the break the enginge fired back up within a second.

I also belive the 1.4 diesels are 3 cylinder units but they were still very smooth.

We had the fabia for several months on motability but when my wife changed over to pip she lost her award despite the fact she has severe heart failure and is classed as prolonging life, The good news is that she has just been to court and won are appeal so we have just ordered an octavia 1.6tdi dsg se hatch. I would have got another fabia but then it would no feel like getting a new car.

Thanks Powyswales (lovely part of the country BTW!), I shall definitely look at it then! We have just had our PIP and whilst we've kept the mobility side we have only got the lower rate of care which we are currently appealing... Any feedback on the court side of things would help (though I hope we don't have to go that far (we have sent them a three page appeal!) - perhaps best kept to a PM if we need to!
