Non OEM Infotainment system for Yeti

Featured Replies

I agreed a deal for the 2016 Yeti Outdoor fitted with the Bolero system.

I now wish to explore the possibilities of upgrading the Bolero to a DAB system ideally with Sat Nav.

I do not have a definitive answer on whether the Amundsen+ will be a direct replacement but I'm guessing it will ? unfortunately I believe it retails around £750.00 + fitting = £1000.00 ?

Can anyone recommend (ideally via personal experience) a 3rd party replacement  Pioneer/Kenwood etc that fits the vacant Bolero slot ?

Failing a total replacement being possible is there another way of getting DAB into the vehicle ?

I appreciate there is a connection with the steering wheel controls that may be lost with 3rd party systems but for the right system this is not a deal breaker.

Any thoughts ?

Many thanks

Thanks for the reply Jim,

These people are London area based, yes ? I notice they do say " We come to you 7 days a week whether you are at work or home."

I'm in North Yorkshire so whether that still applies ?

I obviously need to contact them for further info.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm sure the techy told me they have agents all over the UK?

A cheaper way might be a dab to fm converter;

Lots on Google

In my current 2013 Yeti which has neither Bluetooth, satnav or phone my solution is

Mobile phone with unlimited data streaming radio and calls to a Jabra hands free kit that clips onto sun visor

This broadcasts an FM signal to the car stereo.

Works great, is portable between cars and simple solution.

Whilst I have no practical experience, I'd recently come across these on Amazon, which seem well reviewed and offer some interaction with VAG canbus: Double Din Android headunit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01D30XDXY/ref=pd_sim_107_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KQ4RV78M4ME2DRMC2W8T and DAB+ receiver: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017XM32G6/ref=pd_bxgy_107_img_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8PTCEM2FT8X0GY270CZX

Would highly recommend in-car DAB - I've travelled the length and breadth of this country and found it versatile and have experienced littel signal drop-out. Worth it for BBC Radio 5 line / sports extra (in stereo) and BBC Radio four extra alone.

Good luck

Yes was aware I could link the Bolero to a smart phone, we do not have unlimited data streaming and do not want to go down this route.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Thanks pinkpanther,

Have a couple of ' irons in the fire'  but if they do not work out I may give this serious thought.

Well I met ' Rustynuts ' http://www.briskoda.net/forums/user/53783-rustynuts/ Of this forum this morning.

His forum posts and my experience after meeting him have convinced me of his knowledge of Skoda ' infotainment' systems.

Talk about get lucky ' Rustynuts ' lives 2 miles away from me.

He has a Columbus sat nav system for me and will replace my Bolero.

So . . . . I'm sorted.
