Where was yours done floating brick?

Damn 5 years ago 😂

if you’re looking for someone to do it, I offer it, I’m in north London if that’s any good?

This is why I love Briskoda though, someone has always solved the problem before you!

im looking at buying an iV estate, it doesn’t have the towbar prep done though.

I’m either looking for an oem retrofit or an aftermarket, but don’t really want to then have to take it to a dealer for them to fix the ACC afterwards.

im in Salisbury but regularly up at Heathrow

Be careful, on the more recent cars if it doesn't have the towing prep installed at factory, the rating plate for all towing is marked as nil, meaning you're never fully legal to tow with that car.

Cheers patent, yes I’ve asked for the numbers off the V5 but waiting for them to come back to me. No way I’d install a towbar without a rating on the V5

Just popped out and looked at mine. May 2021 build iV - no tow rating!

Edited: just looked at the V5 -1600kg braked

Oh thanks for looking patent. So yours has no toe prep and your metal vin plate shows no train weight, but your V5 shows 1600 braked?  Weird!!  Thanks again for looking

I think I misread the sticker. It states

GVW 2259

GTW 3859

Which makes sense for the 1600. The only thing we tow is a cattle trailer so towbar prep seemed a bit pointless on this car because of the low capacity

right then I have now fitted the towbar and installed the Trailer prep elect's I had to disconnect the battery and passenger air bag. on re connecting the battery I have some errors.

1 Airbag error.

2 Hill hold error

3 Tyre pressure error all 4

4 Park assist error

5 Stability error

do these have to be reset at skoda or can they be done by me ???

Regards Terry

Hi Trojax01,

how did you go getting the errors reset? I have just done mine with a Westfalia controller, towbar and harness and had a similar raft of errors pop up.
I've taken the car for a 15min drive and most of the errors on the dash reset (except ACC and front assist), but when I plug in my VCDS all the errors are still there and clearing them does nothing.

I have tried coding the Towing module and it doesnt seem to have worked as I cant get into the towing module.

Pwitty85, it sounds like your Installer has not coded the vehicle correctly, they have done it as though it is an older vehicle and not coded all of the modules.

edit, this is usually only an issue for 2020+ vehicles.

Globalste, I fitted it all myself and have tried the coding. its a 2017 MY18 TDI. Any idea on the coding that I should be doing? getting an appointment in a shop at the moment is impossible.

Ive put a trailer on the car and everything trailer wise is working. just all the other errors when I have the VCDS hooked up, and the ACC / Front assist error when Im driving.

Hi @pwitty85.

I had a Westfalia towbar fitted and it threw up all the same issues.

Turned out there's a batch of dodgy modules doing the rounds. My installer replaced it and it's been fine since.

Details in the thread below. Might be worth contacting your supplier of the parts to check whether you might have had a duff module.

Thanks @Jakester,

Cheers for the information. I purchased my kit through Australiatowbars.com.au and fitted it all myself. Ill shoot them an email and see if they might be able to send me out a new module.
