Any guides on cambelt change - 2ltr TDi PD BMM Octavia Scout ?

Featured Replies

Hi All, I think its about time I changed the cambelt and water pump on the Scout, done it a couple of times on the Fabia TDi's but its the first time for the Scout, it looks similar to the Fabia so hopefully it should go OK cheers - Stuart

I know it's an old topic,  but mine's due, and I'm interested in how you got on. Is there a guide/video or do you have any tips? Would the old 'slit the old belt down the middle' trick work? I know this doesn't get around the tensioner and water pump replacement....

DO NOT CHANGE THE TENSIONER STUD.

I did and the thing stripped the thread, and the valves hit the pistons, lucky it did not do the engine, still had the head off to make sure, despite sticking my bore scope down to have a look, it's well documented on "Honest John" that this happens after the 3-4 cambelt change you have been warned.

Hope this helps,

Trev
