Slipping Clutch fixed itself

Featured Replies

ok a little confused

my clutch was slowly getting worse from about 30,000 to 32,000 miles since just after my last 10,000 mile service

but now im at 35,000 and it hasn't slipped for just over a week (i've down bout 2,000 in this last week and a bit)

I have a feeling it was oil on the clutch from over filling at my last service

What problems could this cause as I will need to speak to the people who did the service to sort it out

ditto almost exactly the same. Although I did the oil change so know it wasnt that. Wierd

The clutch can of course become glazed due to overheating - and will slip because of the glaze. Over time this glaze can be removed alas curing the slipping. ;)

Another magic fix on the fabia!! they keep mending themselves these cars, glad to hear.. saves it going in.

Or did you never have a slipping clutch and you WERE trying on IOW :D:rofl::D

I aint sure what fixed it as I had loads of motorway driving recently and a few spirited moments so either the smooth driving fixed it or the hard drivin fixed it or it was just a fluke

anyone got the number for SKODA UK ???

just so I can register with them incase at some point my cars blows up or something and they its down the the oil being over filled :D

Another way of cleaning all the "cr@p" off the clutch is to do a full bore start. Not recommended to do too often though!!! :D

it works....

as ive said a million times... ive had a slipping clutch for almost 50k miles...

if its doing it alot... get to 70-80mph in 6th... bury the throttle and press the clutch a bit so the revs go round to the redline... then let off the clutch and let the rpms sync again... problem solved

Mine's not slipped for ages either.

Rock On!

I have learners driving my car, so I unintentionally do Josh's italian "fix glazed clutch" trick every few days! lol..... mine is up to 20,600 miles with serious abuse, and no slipping whatsoever, still seems to drive as new as far as I can tell
