How do i remove the wheels?

I did lower the car slightly to get some weight onto the wheel hoping it would help, though they sit onto the flange on the hub so its not going to just fall off.

I tried rocking it and pulling it off side to side but i'm sure i would have pulled a muscle! Thought trying to rotate it would have been easier.

No offence to residents of either city of course... ;)

None meant whatsoever :) and most liverpudlians I know have a rabid dislike of "scallies" anyway :D

I am working in the Crowne Plaza in Liverpool all next week and am hoping my handy advice on wheel removal is NOT put into practice

Did you get them off in the end?

Sorry - didn't make the rocking business clear enough.

Make sure the handbrake is firmly on and slacken the wheel bolts with car on the ground, don't jack it up yet. Open a door, grab hold of the top of the door opening and rock the car from side to side.

Another way I've used in the past is to get the car on to one axle stand (nearest the wheel you want to get off), loosen the bolts. Get a large block of timber and a lump hammer. Hit the lower part of the wheel on the outside of the tyre toward the middle of the car with the block of wood against the tyre. The leverage should break the seal. Whatever you do, don't hit the tyre directly with the lump hammer and don't hit the wheel itself. Don't hit the top of the tyre as you're bound to miss and hit the bodywork!

If all this fails then I would risk Kwik Fit!
