how much is it worth?

Featured Replies

2007 fabia vrs se 80,000 miles clean no mods, what do you think is a fair price its listed 3900 private sale thought a bit dear?

I paid £5k for an SE with the same mileage two and a half years ago so I'd say it's about right.

JRJG

When was the cam belt last done?

Room for movement. I'd pay 3700

Sellers expecting £3500, get it for that.

No more than £3k from me ( but tbh I wouldn't even really want to spend that on a 10 yr old car) Sorry.

Although I'm fairly happy with my 10 yr old car so fortunately not an issue for me, just sayin

It really depends how much you want a blue one. If it's a good car, and you want an SE, then go buy it. Anything is only worth what someone will pay for it. It's a lot of money for a 2007 car. If the cam belt was done to schedule it will need one in the next couple of years. Probably a turbo and clutch too.

Personally, I wouldn't pay that for one.

You're paying a premium for leather and xenons. Haggle, haggle, haggle. Must have full service history. And don't worry about turbo, clutch unless clutch slips on test drive. Stick it in third at about 1500 rpm and accelerate (not too viciously) if it doesn't slip it's fine. And turbo. Listen for the siren noise even if it's there it could last for years.

It's an SE so it won't have xenons. They weren't standard and you couldn't spec any options on them.

And the clutch shouldn't slip even it gets properly booted at 1500rpm.

And you'll have to forgive me for disagreeing with you about worrying about the things that need replacing on 10-year old cars.

If the OP blows the whole budget on the car and drives it like it should be driven (possibly with a new remap) then I can pretty much guarantee he'll be looking for a new clutch and turbo. And they need to know that up front so they don't join the queue of folks who buy someone else's old car and are then shocked to discover that they sold it because it needed a lot of money spent on it.

Load of rubbish

Op. If you don't know enough about the car you're buying to make an educated decision about price/condition then take/pay someone who does to check it out.

Don't ask a bunch of strangers on a forum who do nothing but modify there cars until they break then blame the parts.

That's the way to make friends and influence people. I'm sure you"ll learn at some point that it's better to get rub along than rub others up the wrong way.

I've been a member here for well over 10 years and I had my vRS new from the factory in August 2006. In the 273,000 miles myself and SWMBO have driven in the car we"ve replaced lots of stuff including the suspension (twice) with Koni FSDs and Eibach lowering springs, all the brakes (Octavia vRS 312mm and 288mm units), clutch, turbo (now a hybrid Garrett rather than the original KKK) and wheels (I've lost count of how many sets of wheels I went through before I settled on 17" Octavia vRS Spiders).

I post on here because I want to help folks, not show how I am in some way superior.

So once again, I'll disagree because I wouldn't have posted what I did if I thought it was rubbish.

And the fact that you think SEs have xenons just underlines the credibility gap in your post.  So I'll leave the "Load of rubbish" up there. If that's alright with an expert such as yourself.

LOL

See what I mean OP.

Try not to get carried away with the SE aspect. I paid 4k for an 07 back in 2014, and it was a money pit.

2 years later, bought a 54 for 1700quid, and besides a door seal and new tyres, it's been no hassle at all.
