Interior Lighting

Featured Replies

Has anyone with a superb got an illuminated Sunroof/interior light surround? ie with the switch illuminated and the LED's that shine down to give a subtle light on the centre consol?

** EDIT Due to hideous typing errors!! **

I think all Superb's whether with sunroof or not have "catvision":D

Can anyone take a photo of it for me?

I want to see if it will fit my Octy as I have this in my MK4 Golf (known as the W8 mod as it comes from an Passat W8)

I hope it fits my Octy, I really like this effect in the car... Never heard of it called "catvision" before but get the idea!

IIRC the W8 stuff fits the Octy.....

I pretty much had sussed that but my problem is that I want the green ilumination, being too fussy!

Why not fit a **** green neon?

I think any colour led could be used to replace the red ones as fitted, if you have the know-how and ability..as well as parts required.

Know how and ability is the problem here! ;)

Got the catvision in my 03 2.8 superb elegance. Thought it was a bit of a gimmick at first but it really is very effective - and useful! Personal taste,I suppose, but the red LEDS give a warm cosy feeling at night. Don't think I would have the green for that reason. Are you still looking for a pic? There's also a good line drawing in the owners' manual. I'll post them tomorrow - if I can find out how to attach!

Hi

As promised last night, these 2 pics might be of help. Yell if you need any approx dimensions etc. I'm terrified to take it to bits to see what's inside!)

It will fit... i've got it in my fabia (see sig pic) it goes in all the models.

Red is the standard for 'Ambient' lighting as it feels warm and cosy, as already stated.

White is also a good ambient lighting and my intention is to change the Red LED's for white ones to match the door handle illumination - Pictures to follow shortly.

Red is used because it is easier on the eyes when its dark, without affecting your ability to see out into the dark.

So just to confirm, the Superb "cat vision" is red illumination for both the LED's and the sunroof dial?

So just to confirm, the Superb "cat vision" is red illumination for both the LED's and the sunroof dial?

NO. On my superb elegance only the 2 main LEDS are red. The electric sun-roof dial and the various light switches are green but they are very small and don't provide any downlighting - just an indication of where the switches are!

Sorry about the slight delay in responding - I had to go and look because I didn't know what colour the switch lighting was!

LATER: Took pics now that it's night to show the effect but poor results! The catvision is especially good in the Elegance because the 2 red LEDs shine down onto the chrome plate which covers the automatic shift lever and the P, R, 4, 3, 2, and 1 positions all have their own individual green back lighting. No, the whole thing doesn't look like a xmas tree - more like the flight deck of a jumbo!

The "cat vision" is just the two red leds that "glow" - supposed to give the effect of moonlight according to brochure. Pretty feeble moon. They are on my superb without the sunroof and really it is one of the least impressive toys on the car - in fact about as useful as a chocolate fireguard IMHO.

All of the other interior lighting, including the switch illumination (which is very useful) is either green, or in the case of interior lights themsleves, white.

nah, i like it. lets you see what you're doing in the car without being distracting. as someone else pointed out, also very good for doing "monster hands" if you have kids in the back, too....
