Hi all,

 

Thought i'd introduce myself, I was referred here from the UKGSer forum after posting that i was about to test drive a new Octavia vRS estate the weekend before last. I went to Marshals in Reading and took out a new vRS Octavia hatch out and thoroughly enjoyed it, I needed an estate which they didn't have available for a test drive. However they did have a 16 model registered in Jan this year with only 3k miles on it, black pack, winter pack etc in white which i really liked..

 

So i currently own a 12 year old Land Rover Discovery 2 which has been a great motor and is perfect for chucking the dogs in the back but it's time for something a little newer, better performing and fuel economy... After the dealership in Reading we headed over to Maidenhead BMW to have a look at the 3 series touring but was really surprised by the lack of boot space. I have a German Shepherd who likes to sit up in the back of the disco and a Staffie cross who always lays down so i need something with a lot of space in the back. 

 

So everything pointed back to the Octavia estate and after a little discussion with the wife i called the dealer and placed a deposit to secure the deal.. If everything goes well the Disco will be sold tomorrow evening and i collect the Octavia on Wednesday evening, can't wait really enjoyed the drive and was very pleasantly surprised at just how good the car was...

 

Anything I should be aware of or on the lookout for? I've asked the dealer to fit a dog guard as well as the boot liner and rubber mats..

Welcome to the forum.

 

Good that you got the car you wanted, i read on here that the Dealers have stopped taking orders for factory builds on the current Mk3 vRS.

I have bikes instead of dogs and the estate is good for that too.  Was just giving it a wash as I'm off up to Norfolk in a minute, and a local couple walked by.  The old boy said he wished he'd worn sunglasses ( a jibe at mine being bright yellow) and his missus told me to ignore him and said that she loved seeing my car coz it was bright and cheerful.  I told her I loved it too - I've had it 15 months now and it still makes me smile
