Rapid Notchback Being Discontinued?

Featured Replies

I received a couple of brochures through the door over the weekend from the dealer that I bought my car from.

Inside they showed all of the latest offers but while flicking the pages saw the latest offers on the "Skoda Spaceback". no mention of the word Rapid anywhere and no sign of the bigger version. Are they trying to forget about it or are they discontinuing it?

Seems a bit odd after making modifications to this year's models that they would just bin it.

Both the Rapid & Toledo are still available on the configurator pages of their respective websites and they're still both popular with taxi drivers.

Anyone have any info?

The Rapid Spaceback and Rapid both have current brochures available to download from Skoda.co.uk, they are marketed as separate products so maybe you just got the Spaceback ones.

It was one brochure containing all of the models but no Rapid hatch and no mention of the Rapid name at all, only Spaceback that I found odd

I think the Spaceback has historically been a harder sell for UK dealers since there is so much competition - hence there are loads of offers on it.

The Rapid Hatch on the other hand seems to have the small saloon / minicab market to itself.

Worldwide sales are pretty big for both bodystyles ISTR.

Are you saying it's just the name Rapid Which has been dropped for the Spaceback model ?

My neighbour has a fabia estate and there's not a great deal difference in size to the SB.

I think I may have got the same dealer advert as you. I saw that and wondered a similar thing, but maybe they feel like they don't want to advertise the "normal" rapid, or maybe it was an error when preparing the document

Just sounds like some sloppy copy writing on the ad - I would read anything more into it.
