First time posting hoping this is the right area, if not please move.

 

I bought a used Octavia III 2.0 TDI  from a skoda dealer in east of england about 2 months ago. The VIN number is TMBBJ7NE2F00XXXXX which seems to suggest the build year is 2015. The vehicle was registered in Oct, 2014. Is it possible to register a car that was not built or I am completely wrong in my understanding of VIN number formats?

I think 2015 is the model year not the manufacture year

I expect that means its a 2015 model year specification, which would start in 2014.

 

The F before the final numbers is 2015 model year.

 

My VIN has a G which is 2016 model year, even though the car was built in July 2015 and registered in Sep 2015.

 

A useful tool is to put the Skoda service app onto your phone or tablet, enter the VIN and it shows the production date.
