These two would certainly meet your needs Jim and are way under budget. Both only have 128GB SSD but an external HD is dirt cheap.

 

The Dell only has 4GB RAM but Win 7 downgrade option too.

I've just bought that same Acer laptop for the wife from Tesco. 8GB RAM, 2TB hardrive.  A bag and BT mouse.
